SUNDAY IN BROOKLYN
It’s Sunday in Brooklyn and the outdoors is calling. Me and my skate gang are working on a strategy for escape. We need to break out of our comfort zones, the home walls that protect us and hit the big outdoors. We crave power slides and curb sharks, we want to make the impossible possible, we want to roll with the wind. So we crack the code and head out. Together we are grinding down the sidewalk ready to throw a fast plant, a grom, to make the transition. There is no limit to our imagination, the skies are big and this is where the magic happens. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone and we dare each other to go there.
Alex Trochut was born in Barcelona but currently lives and works in Brooklyn. In collaboration with Little Creative Factory he created the free-spirited calligraphy print for the texts used in our Sunday in Brooklyn FW21 collection.
Trochut’s urban free style lettering pushes language to its limits so that seeing and reading become the same action and text and image, one unified expression.
BB Skate Club promotes skateboarding in a fun, safe, and friendly environment. They are the Supreme Skateboarding Club in New York City. Training for the future.
A special thanks to Omar who inspired us every day for our upcoming winter collection!!
Bombette Martin, aged 15 will become Britain’s youngest-ever Summer Olympian. Martin is in the “park” discipline, which takes place in bowls that resemble – and indeed began life as – empty swimming pools.
“Especially after the Olympics, I think it’s just going to boom, the skate community in general is just going to be on fire,” says Martin. “But especially the girls, their confidence will rise and they will be like, ‘Oh, I see those girls can do it. So I guess I can do it too.’”
Martin, who lives in New York City, has noticed more girls and young women becoming interested in skateboarding.
